Thumb injury

Post by galapogos »

Anyone has experience with rehabbing thumb injuries? I seemed to have overused the hook grip on my right hand a few weeks back, and it hasn't recovered yet. :(

What's the nature of the injury? Just squashed flat?

Pain when I curl the thumb inwards into my thumb(eg hook grip position), and also when I press on the bony protrusion at the base of the thumb from the side. It also seems slightly swollen compared to the left hand.

Trigger Finger symptom.

Your flexor or extensor tendon is inflamed.

Let it rest or get a doctor to do a roid injection to the site. But note the side effects, it can cause permanent discoloration to the area and infection too.

Painkillers can help with the pain... but you know what to take to bring down the inflammation ;)

is this a result of one bad pull or something that's bound to happen after X reps?

My understanding is that it can be due to overuse of a certain finger.

Like those who are always at the desk and do alot of computer work? They have their index finger facing the same issues from all the mouse clicking.

But it does not necessarily mean it will happen to all :D
