Weightlifting calculator...how accurate is this?

Post by galapogos »

It's pinpoint accurate on my classic lifts(80kg snatch, 100kg c+j for 180kg total), and power snatch/clean are maybe about there...(haven't tried before), but it underestimates my front/back squat, and grossly underestimates my bench...

Power jerk = push jerk? What's a power pull? Clean pull?

one size fits all never really fits anything.

in my case, my squat numbers are joke, so either they get way overestimated, or they cause everything else to look like shit.

well i'm guessing it would be more accurate to people who have gotten both technique and strength down. And also more relevant/accurate to the classic lifts rather than the accessory ones...I'm taking it that because I can squat that much, I *should* be able to clean/snatch this much. The fact that I am nowhere near, probably points more to a technique/speed issue than a strength one. I've read one of Dan John's coaches say that you should be able to clean what you can front squat for 3. That kinda makes sense to me. I'm still very far from that though.

Wa like that i'm damn far away.. So i really have been reverse curling..
Squats can only strengthen, tear or break something. Strengthening, tearing and breaking is totally awesome. Thus squats are awesome.

i looked at the scale again... and noticed that:
CJ% > PC% (or PJ%)

so this scale won't apply to noobs like me at all.

Yeah, obviously C+J > PC or PJ. You don't have to clean as high in the C+J, so less strength/power is needed. And PJ is usually more taxing and inefficient than the SJ, so many olympic lifters use the SJ instead of the PJ, with a few notable exceptions like Pyrros and Zhang Guozheng.

btw, SJ can mean split jerk or squat jerk. Dimas is power jerker. Zhang is squat jerker. both styles look similar, difference is how high they catch the bar.

each style has its pros and cons.. not everyone can PJ or squat jerk cuz you need good shoulder mobility.

Wah I didn't know that. I thought either power/push/squat jerk all the same sia...just that the weight vv heavy so they bopian go all the way down. I see some of them, then catch in a power position, but then slowly sink down into a full overhead squat. Always thought it was just the weight being too heavy.

some are really bobian but some purposely go all the way. one weightlifter who can catch at power jerk height but goes down all the way is Zhan Xugang.

what i have seen from videos is that power jerkers dip shorter and drive the bar higher.
