Running long distance good for your knees?

Who would've thought?

Of course, the study was done on elite level runners, who probably have exceptional form from coaching & experience, and low body weight. Compare this to the average fat guy who wants to lose weight, decides to run, thinking "running where got need to pay money to learn one? just run lah!" and then starts experiencing knee pain 2 weeks later.

even if this were true, I personally don't like long distance running any better. short distances, intervals, high intensity... now that's the good stuff.

Yeah, follow-on studies like this tend to be difficult to interprete, e.g. how to account for selection bias (those who are running, are running because they don't have issues which eliminated the other 99% earlier on).
