Re: Physiological adaptations to low-volume, HIIT

I still think, after the last decade of "experimentation" with crossfit and other HIIT type activities, that I agree with Mark Twight's conclusion: there's no free lunch. If you train HIIT, you'll get good at HIIT. If you train LSD, you'll be good at LSD. And more telling; I can do HIIT better now, ...

Re: Phlebodium decumanum vs oxidative stress

The physical test consisted of a constant run that combined several degrees of high effort (mountain run and ultra-endurance), in permanent climbing how is this relevant to your mode of exercise?!? And what the heck is creeping golden polypody/samambia anyway? http://www.rain-tree.com/samambia.htm ...

Re: 2012 Powerlifting Championship Series

Hmm, ok well I'm game, I guess if I can hit my previous PBs for sq/pr/dl ~110, 90 and 135 I shouldn't be too ashamed to try. And there's plenty of time between each "round" to peak! anybody else going to try? I'll need some help to make sure I do the lifts correctly prior to meet day, theoretically ...

A WOD with 400m and then prowler finishers? 37 is kinda hard to work around since it's a prime number, any suggestions other than do 37 reps in a row? lol Would love to get some swings, pullups and 400m in. Why: cuz we outta shape I'll just go to a corner and cry now... Umm, this sunday should be ok, but I need to stay away from high rep pullups to let my elbows get better. Or else start doing ring pullups. Actually, high rep anything where I have to hold onto something for long periods, including KB ...

Re: 300 Anniversary 4 Sep 2011

Sadly, I didn't have much footage to work with, despite having footage from two cameras. Action was either too jerky, not focussed (Goi's camera footage seemed out of focus most of the time), or not enough time on one person/set of people to get a good sense of the action, so I could join the pieces...

Re: Effect of caffeine on EPOC after intense resistance trai

well, we do know that using EPOC as a gauge of work done is not directly correlated, but EPOC is one of the "simpler" measurements that is correlated in "some" way, and in some ordinal sense, but perhaps not cardinally (i.e. higher EPOC means more work done, albeit x2 EPOC doesn't mean x2 work effor...

Re: Annual 300 2011

My back is quite sore too. And my finger hurts like hell (as a result, I had to switch to mixed grip during a set of deadlift; I think I ended up doing 60 reps in DLs rather than 50... sigh).
