Sleep: What the Research Actually Says

Post by xarope »

Interesting article about what sleep deprivation actually does to your body

http://www.ericcressey.com/sleep-what-t ... ually-says

My empirical sample (of one, namely me) does concur with quite the conclusions, e.g. when I'm awake for >24 hours, I tend to want to eat a lot more, and my performance in the gym definitely suffers.

Not so sure about the argonne diet nor light exposure/deprivation. I just force myself to stay awake no matter how little sleep I've had, when I travel to US/Europe and try to get a good night's rest. First night is usually OK since I'm tired from the long travel, but 2nd night is the killer. Once I get past the 3rd night usually it's about OK in terms of sleep, although bowel movements are still off-sync (ok ok too much detail).
