Rant:Training for the wrong reasons

Post by alex »

I am sure most of you get asked, why do you train for?

For me, i train to get a more dense, toned ,stronger body.

However, a group of riff-raff in my class do not share my sentiments.Their mentality is that just because i possess muscles, it dictates that i must use it to solve whatever dispute i have.Like today, just because someone antagonised me a little. Those morons kept encouraging me to go beat him up.Then keep posing the same question why train if cant use to beat people up etc.

I dont get why you gangsters call yourselves a "fighter" then go tattoo some | on your nose bridge, you arent one.You cannot even fight your inner demons and stupidity, you lack discipline not to keep re-offending again. And i doubt you really follow a competitive fighter's regime or even have proper technique.A true fighter is supposed to be a class act.

I have no respect for most of the muscled up 'street fighters' out there until they step into a proper setting or a ring. They only look good because they fight severely out of their weight class and most of the punks on the streets are scraps anyway.

I have absolute disdain for people who train up to throw their weight around literally and figuratively.

Anyway street fighter people can do muscle up ah? Is it in the new Street Fighter IV then got the move? Which character?
Squats can only strengthen, tear or break something. Strengthening, tearing and breaking is totally awesome. Thus squats are awesome.

Alex was a main character of Street Fighter III. They expected you to live up to the name Image

Here comes our very own Chun Li. Ask her to show you her Yatta! jump shrugs during the next wet weather :P

And Alex, they wanna see you kick some ass, maybe you should grant them the wish - kick their asses first :)

There is no correlation between "looks" and ability to "fight".

There's no such thing as a "proper setting" for a fight. There's no honour, no score, no one-on-one, no win or lose (everybody loses in a fight).

You need to just be able to tell the difference between someone who is blustering, and someone who truly doesn't care. Be afraid of the latter, be very very afraid. The drugged out psycho doesn't care about your fancy submission holds and take down techniques. They just know that when they bite, gouge, rake, etc, blood gets drawn and someone gets injured (whether themselves or someone else).

from my experienced after building up my body prevents fights, not win any, it is a super deterrent, that is what i love about it. unless they are like xarope said (people who dun care), normal riff-raff wont dare to mess with you.

In other countries (perhaps Singapore is too civilized!), you being "built" would be an invitation for people to mess with you. People who hide knives, key chains etc, before hitting you, or have friends standing behind.

Everything is a double edged sword. What matters is how you decide to use it (e.g. avoid those areas, go with a group of friends, don't be an *sshole, etc).

Well I never use my size for intimidation; always tell people that I'm a pacifist. I don't understand why some people say that I'm big when I'm not though.

In any case, it is more interesting letting your mouth and your intellect do the talking for you in getting your way rather than via brute force. Wits will usually get you out of normal encounters. But go berserk on someone if he really pushes you.
