I got posted into 1st Guards mono-intake(according to my letter). I have a few questions for those familiar with it.
Well, i read wikipedia and forums but still cannot grasp the concept fully.
1)What do they mean by 1st guards (amphibious) and 3rd guards(heliborne). Like any difference in training between these two?
2)Do all guardsmen learn how to drive the LSV ?

1) just defines whether you'll learn rappelling or amphibious entry
2) no. SAF doesn't invest any more than it has too
Enjoy the pain of having superior IPPT requirements lol.

Meaning that if one goes to 1st guards that he wouldnt learn helicopter fast rope/rappelling insertions and vice versa for 3rd guards?
OR
Does it mean that 1st guards spends more time training sea insertions and vice versa for 3rd guards?

i'm not certain which of the units specializes in which, but you'll probably do more job-specific training, so if 1st is all about sea ops, then you'll get more time on those landing boats and rubber rafts. Though it seems likely you'll touch all the skills at least once as a guardsman, judging from my feedback from pals in guards, but they're officers, so I'm not sure if their men go through the full skills course or just those applicable.
