Diet Cravings.
On a meat, veg & nuts diet now from Jon Wong.
3rd day into it.
Having inexplicable cravings for sweet foods.
I'm staring at the grapes in the fridge cause they look all to juicy.
Got any suggestions or recommendations for sweet carb free goodness?

If you've been doing it properly it's a good sign.
Its a time where your brain is screaming out for glucose.
Frankly its a first step to dieting, 2nd one would be fighting the hunger demon when you cut calories.
Thats the worst of the lot.

Squats can only strengthen, tear or break something. Strengthening, tearing and breaking is totally awesome. Thus squats are awesome.

Aiyoh, so troublesome! Just drink a shake lah. Shake sweet mah. If not just grab 2 grapes and eat it and tell yourself that's it! 2 grapes for balance, in case he feels imbalance just eating one grape.

Re: Diet Cravings.
Diet craving tips :
1) get your vision away from food. Keep your diet food sources in abundance. Lesser chance of cheating and using the excuse, "but I dont have clean food here.. no choice!"
2) keep yourself occupied. When u are occupied, u wont think of sweet food.
3) chew your food slowly, every bite. This keeps u fuller longer.
4) Get alternative sweets. For me.. it is Xtend and coke zero.
5) Make your dietitng a habit, then it will be natural. Damn, mine is a habit that I find hard to break.
6) avoid shakes. Choose real food when possible. Shakes just make u hungry in less than an hour's time.
7) Eat more veges. Eat less fruits.
Eat sludge. Tastes like ice-cream. Ben And Jerries.
Version 1:
Protein Powder ( I use 2 scoops for 44g protein)
almonds ( I use 27g for 15g of fat)
a bit of water, just enough for the mixture to gel together, but not enough to make it runny at all.
Version 2:
Same as above, just add 99g blueberries
Version 3:
Same as Version 1, just add Oats. (For me its 50g oats for 35g carbs)
Version 4:
This is the most power one...
Use version 2, but instead of plain water, use coke zero.

I 'm not exactly the most disciplined among the guys here, but i'll try to offer my experience since I'm on the same diet as you( meat veg, eggs, nuts, no carbs except PWO)VinodVarma wrote:On a meat, veg & nuts diet now from Jon Wong.

For me, i still like my shakes so in tt sense I would prob advise the opposite of Sufian. Then again tt's just me.
I rmb reading on t-nation tt Charles Poliquin advised gorging oneself on broccoli and other healthy vegetables, you could try this to satisfy the carb cravings.
EDIT: according to Aaron, try to avoid root vegetables like potatoes, radishes, carrots.
Redoxant and vitamin C tablet/xtend is another great suggestion by Aaron.
I think most importantly however, is to remind yourself why you want to do it, why you want to push yourself so hard; find something tt's worth it. For me, it's because I've never been on such a fucking restrictive diet before and I want to stretch myself mentally and physically. quite abstract la, but I believe there's more joy in enjoying something tt you have waited long/ sacrificed a lot for. Else you tend to take it for granted.
Have you tried asking Jon Wong / daniel/edwin for tips?
Just a word of encouragement : I believe you will be able to see results fast if you stick to this: after all, you've gone from one extreme of eating everything and anything in all amounts to a diet tt's just about as clean as one can get.

All the best.

Re: Diet Cravings.
Well general rule of thumb, if you're not hungry on a cut diet then sometimes is wrong somewhere.

Usually if I find that I have sweet cravings, I'd have them at breakfast only. Gives you something to look forward to during the nights. Of course, don't go nuts on the sweet stuff.

Re: Diet Cravings.
Wow. A tonne of advice here. Thanks alot guys!
It's really true.
When you don't have much choice you tend to say it's alright and just break the diet.
Just back from a bbq/chalet.
Fortunately there was quite abit of decently marinated meat.
So that was good.
But had to control myself over the potatoes and buns and otah and noodles and evil carbs and what not.
Sigh.
Skipped the whiskey.
Which was torturous.
I'm usually one of the bigger drinkers.
Let's just say that when you're sober, drunk people are a lot more idiotic and alot less fun.
From the past few days of experience, it really isn't easy eating clean when you're out.
To really stick to dieting when there are so many temptations is not easy.
I remember about a month or two back trying to clean up my diet.
Packed meat for the whole day.
First couple of meals were fine.
Then after a while, the meat started tasting and smelling funny.
So I decided that wasn't good and stopped.
Gah. I don't even know why I'm doing this.
Oh Wait.

Yeah it's worth it.

Re: Diet Cravings.
Kudos for the great effort man. At least you're trying. Meat wise, I bring sardines/tuna out, plus a bit of eggs: 2 scrambled 2 hard boiled as these can last nearly a whole day without spoiling ( tried it from morn to evening). you could try tt out for a while. tuna thoug, according to jon wong is not very gd due tot he mercury content whereas for small fish like sardine he said it's ok. Oh yes, I bring 1 small container for 1 serving of protein too. maybe you could try asking the rest of the clients for tips, or the coaches.VinodVarma wrote:Wow. A tonne of advice here. Coach Daniel used to be 103kg in army. maybe his current physique can serve as a form of inspiration for you.
