Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long for the showcase, and Microsoft has already revealed a few of the games to expect: South of Midnight from Compulsion Games (famous for Contrast and We Happy Few), Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from Sandfall Interactive, and DOOM: The Dark Ages from id Studios.
There will likely be additional announcements and surprises throughout the event, so even if your favorite game doesn’t make the list, there’s still plenty to look forward to.
Personally, I’m eagerly awaiting South of Midnight and DOOM: The Dark Ages, as both titles have a lot of potential. However, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has me particularly intrigued. The trailer shown during the Summer Game Fest Xbox Showcase looks like it could be Microsoft’s take on Persona, which is a game I’m excited to try.
The only thing that gives me pause is the developer, Sandfall Interactive, as this is their first game. But, first-time studios have delivered amazing titles in the past, and the team at Sandfall has a wealth of experience from other successful studios. I’m cautiously optimistic that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 could be a standout, so check back with me after January 23rd to see if I was right!
