In all honesty, i have about 10 close friends and their associates only that i can trust.

The rest are just casual "Hi, bye" type of friends.

I find that sometimes they can disrupt your train of thought especially if the topic being discussed is that different from what you are thinking of.

And i agree with Ryan on this:
"Besides, it bears mention that generally, the older we get, the less time we'll spend with our friends/relatives/colleagues and the more time we'll spend alone(or with our wife and kids at best) and the less time we'll have to spend with our friends; so why not get conditioned to it now." -->due to work (real work) and other important stuff, you wun have the energy to spend time with friends/relatives/colleagues. Unless they are a pretty close bunch, one could make exceptions.
Finally, Steph, someone on this forum who shares the same opinion with me and has bothered to acknowledge it instead of ignoring it when they think I"m right, and shooting me when they think I'm not. lol.
LOL.

personally, though i think having some alone time is good(SLEEP AND EXAMS THANKS), but i don't think that if a person will become old and lonely one day, he should be accustomed to it now, why ah why, would you wanna be alone your whole damn life? Its either that all the friends you have are not worthy, or you are not worthy for all your friends.

I totally agree with phing, treasure the present. Treasure whoever you have, whatever you have now.

The future is, THE FUTURE? so you never know what will happen, you MIGHT become lonely, but you MAY also have a lot more people around you.

Ryan ah you say ah, the people get older, work ah, then need to become lonely, so we get accustomed to that 1st right, what if they become very old then retire, with kids, grandkids, kids of brothers/sisters, grandkids of brothers/sisters, do they need to get accustomed to be NOT lonely again?(sorry ah duno a word for NOTLONELY, english not as good as alex haha.)

HO SEH LA, swee bo i type out. and why am i still awake!?

actually, wot i meant was the time spent with our close ones gets lesser that i agree... but not on the part of getting accustomed/conditioned to it since it will happen sooner or later. speaking of which, i miss school :(

bottom point, be happy for you are. change only if you see there is a need or must to. you seem confused and lost at times, do some soul searching and thinking. write down notes if you must, or a diary or a blog (a proper blog - private or not up to you) if you want to be happy and satisfied, you would do wotever it takes. it's just the journey that makes it tough. but it takes time. i believe many people have offered you lots of advices for different stuff, but it's ultimately UP TO YOU on whose to heed/what to heed/or to heed anot. it's all up to you to make the choice. people can provide you ideas/advices, but it's all about you in the end.

make your own decision.

just my 2c worth, i'm not flaming you.

Jordon, agree with you about the part on cherishing all that you have now. You never know when they might leave you; so don't take them for granted. What I meant by getting accustomed to being lonely was, as you grow older you might not be able to meet/hang out with your friends as often as you could when you are young and in sch. For instance, perhaps in sec sch or now, u see your class/ coursemates/CCA friends everyday...and some times you can even hang out with them after sch...3-5 times a week. But when you grow older, let's say in uni or workplace, usually you'll all go your separate ways, and if you're considered lucky enough and close enough, you meet up like, every month or so. You don't get to hang out as often as you would like with them, because of your work and family commitments. Unless, of course, you're some rich Tai Tai.

in terms of common interests, as you grow older I think we all develop different ones. Even now, besides the community in this forum, hwz, TIB and perhaps Jon wong's place, none of the ppl I know in sch(except perhaps a guy called Reshwvein who's training for YOG weighlifting next yr) , sec sch or otherwise, treat training as an end by itself. Training to most ppl, even athletes or sportspeople, are at best a means to an end, never an end in itself.

I'm assuming that one will need to get accustomed to being alone next time, because it's a painful but inevitable process but not the other way round.
It's probably more applicable, though, for my case because for I spend more time alone in school than my peers. :P
