xarope wrote:Depends on what you intend to train for. The swinging C+J as per the KB way, and even more specifically the soft style way, is intended to train your for a very specific type of KB competition (i.e. you can now strive for efficiency within the rules), which most of us are not training for, and does require more skill, which again most of us are not familiar with (although after 240 swings last week I think I was beginning to look like JonBoey, albeit with more hair  ).

On the other hand, the "dead" C+J (i.e. from the ground) is easier to teach and harder to get wrong (e.g. no rounding back on the back swing), people just need to learn the "trick" of twisting and not flipping the KB over so they can avoid the bruising of the forearms.

We do set some general rules for the workout, typically a dead C+J since it's meant to be a met-cond workout, not a KB workout per se. I don't think we've included a KB snatch yet (excluding Weixian's special technique for C+P :D ), since technically that is a much harder movement to teach, and more things can go wrong when fatigue sets in. For other more technical movements where we can propose a a "similar" movement for substitution, e.g. ring dips -> 2xbar dips, e.g. kipping pulls -> normal pullups -> band pullups, we do so.
We've done snatches before, Blame Canada I think? I also did swing C+J a couple times. The movement is just like a swing except with the C+J at the end and being a swing, it's faster and more TUT(Sufian will like it). My personal feel is that it's like a dead hang pullup vs kipping pullups. Of course there's also a place for dead C+J. But I've grown to like the swing C+J more, except with a more explosive "hard style" swing with more ROM. Not sure if that makes sense...but it does to me...

I think we leave it open la, something overhead pressing like usual or if you cant' do ring dips, do bar dips.
Do what you feel fits you best and which you can perform with relatively good form in a fatigue state.

Most importantly its the movement that counts not how you do the movement.

The rest is can be as per normal.

Squats can only strengthen, tear or break something. Strengthening, tearing and breaking is totally awesome. Thus squats are awesome.

doesn't matter, you better finish faster than him... which means the only person spared is sufian.
if not he'll come after he's done, plus your celebrity status...it will be done.

No games this weekend, so I'm good to go.

If we are doing a no running workout this week, can I suggest 400m intervals before or after to work on technique, speed?

Agreed. Probably before. We have to let Kevin chase down Louis somehow...

(and also because I may yet not be able to run... let's see :P )
