Erm, i got a call from them saying i'm given a 7-day free trial to try out their shit there. Funny thing they know my name too, saying that someone (my 'friend', when prompt as expected wasnt told who it was) had sign up for the membership and 'referred' me for the trial thing.
Im expected tons of 'please join this shit that shit' if i am to go. But thought of just going and use their weights to save that $2.50 for clubfitt instead.
Just wanna know whether it's worth it just to go and use their weights there. Planning to go to the Republic Plaza one if im able to make it.
Also, does that referral shit really happen!? I mean, it's damn stupid man, i dont even know who's the 'friend' who signed up!

I go to Republic Plaza or did before I was exiled to Tuas. I went during lunch though, I'm told after hours is stupid packed with charms guys posing in front of mirrors.
On the other hand, the racks will be free unless trainers use them for incline push ups for their clients or curlers like Sufian

take over.
Bad thing is hex weights.
About the sales pitch, if they can't tell you who referred you, then chances are you might've come off a phone list. Regardless, if you have no intention to join (and I wouldn't if I were you) you have got to be a world class tard to end up signing for something. They can't make you do anything, don't give them your credit card. Just be polite, listen to their pitch and tell them that others have told you that it is stupid packed at hours you would go, making it a waste of time, but that you just wanted to check the place out. No obligation pass, if it is that, means just that.

Alright thanks bro. I'll decide again, might not be going already since it sounds like a bad choice to go after work.

Too far man, although it's really quite nice.
Ehh i'm not passing by there anytime soon haha, but i can make a trip there to help u get it. I havent gotten mine yet cuz i heard campus corner off Stamford Road is cheaper. Will be getting mine from there instead. The one there is around $8 for one block right? Try giving me the exact name and weight if possible, i dont wanna get the wrong one.
Just tell me what you want, sms me at --. It'll be better if u remind me on friday again just in case i forget before coming sunday.

i went for a 1 month trial before. as long as you're firm, they can't do anything to you. they will however call u up occasionally after the trial to bug you, but just tell them you've already joined another gym and they'll back off.
btw if u're getting chalk, help me get a block?

To reiterate, it may sound like the best deal in the world, expiring as soon as you walk out that door, doesn't matter. DON'T give them your credit card details.

i wouldn't go.
the chances are you'll have to listen to whatever bs every goddamn time you step into the gym.
I'll say $2.50 is cheaper than listening to their crap.
you want to be able to just go in and do your shit... not listen to their crap first. it's not just wasting time, but could get really annoying.

Erm Goi i'll also need to know exactly what u want, cuz i havent buy any chalk on my own before. IIRC they only sell Mammut chalks there.
Back to topic, they allow mp3 playas there right? So i can just plug in and do my stuff while they flap their gums away?

Funny... every branch seems to leave me alone... even when I bang weights
And honestly, I like California Fitness when it is non-peak hours. Plenty of weights, everything you will ever need and pretty convenient with the showers, sauna and steam room.
I have had no payment issues with them either... I pay upfront for my 3 years and don't have to worry about any recurring charges that might occur after my membership expires.
Besides, once you are a regular face, they will leave you alone.
The only downside for me, is their frickin' music. It blows.

...maybe they're better now.
but when i was a member years ago, the sales guy kept bugging me about their stupid lifetime membership, no matter how many times i told him i'm not interested.
so one day, after he came to me about it for the last time, i told him that i quit.
