Some comments:

The main character is extremely crafty and well versed in disarming techniques.

I especially like the scene in which he refused to compromise with his daughter's captors and even warned them instead.This uncompromising attitude is what increases the suspense.

Does not matter how well versed he is. Jack Bauer will kick his ass. You don't mess with Jack Bauer.

I thought everyone knows that wikipedia is spoiler one?
