When Shit Happens

I'm just ranting, come to think of it.
So yesterday I was informed on the 11th hour that the duty person for that day had to do overtime until 10.30pm. Since it was told during the last minute, I didn't pack any food with me into camp. I also couldn't take more than one dinner ration since there was exactly enough. So, I ended up eating carbs and some protein late into the night.
It's not just yesterday though. These days I find that when I'm busy, I barely have time to either at proper times or walk to the cookhouse to gather the left overs. Case-in-point: Yesterday there was a security check of the bunks and by the time it ended, the cookhouse had cleared the food for lunch. Since I didn't even have a protein bar or a can of tuna in the office, I ended up eating... Cup noodles from the vending machine. For the first time in three years.
Generally I've gotten used to such incidents, which fortunately are not all too common. I do think that I will have better control of my diet once I head over to the corporate world, since with more cash on hand, I can afford to stock up the easy to eat foods (protein bars, tuna, maybe whipped cream if there's a fridge, protein powder) in the office should shit happen again, I.E. last minute overtime, meetings, et cetera.
