Does NS really make you more mature?

I keep hearing that all the time.
In my opinion, i think that it still boils down to the individual. I have met people who have obviously been thru NS and they still cant think for themselves or behave like a punk.
What do you guys think?

yup, up to individuals.
i have seen teenagers that stretch from total bums to hard working and forward striving type.
in fact, many do agree to bring back conscription, not limited to military but expanded to social work, here in australia.

i know some that still behave like secondary school kids after ns..

Depending on the attitude and mindset that you go in with, tinker about, learn and come out with.
