honestly, I have never sen a guy who sticks to his goals as Jon.

Last time he said he wanted to do weighted pull-ups.. he went all out for it.

Then this time he said he wanted to go for strongman... He went all out for it. Others may say fat, or lazy(whatever...), but I see it as pure determination to reach his goals. U think its easy to see a fat version of yourself in the mirror? Everyday? Its not. But, for the sake of strongman ambition, he's doing it.

He has already said that he will start cutting, and going for the weighted pull-up record again, after his strongman exploits end. I, for one, believe that he will be the guy who will pawn all of us. LEts all wait and see.

...why do you need to get a gut for strongman?
i don't think my own tires are helping at all.

haha.. beats me... Jon says that he needs the weight, to offset the rhino pull.

i dunno if 10kg-20kg of deadweight helps... unless you got 20-40kg of muscles along the way.

i mean, if i slapped a 10kg plate around my gut and pulled sled, i'd probably do it slower.

i bet it helps with bench, especially with a belt. lol

Happy belly. Never had double chin.

Aiyar, no need to make me paiseh. The reason is very simple. Whatever my goals, I don't seem to have any carryover from one activity to the next. Some people can be strong at many things at once. I can't, I can only be good at one thing at a time.

I suffer from a severe genetic disorder that prevents me from gaining 20-40kg of muscle in one year. It's called "being normal". Everyone else can put on 20-40kg of muscle in a year. I can't.

At 78kg last March I pulled 230kg in 28secs. Now at 98kg I pulled the same weight in 14secs. As you can see, the heavier I am the slower I become. Since 98-78 is 20, that means 20kg of deadweight is costing me 28-14 = 14 secs. So with a ratio of 1.43 (20 divided by 14), if I had stayed at 78kg, I would have pulled it in 9.79 secs instead. You are absolutely right, I shall now diet back to 78kg and pull 230kg in 9.79secs.

What the hell is kettlebell sport?

uh... you're comparing your time from LAST MARCH to now.
that's 10 months of training.

you couldn't possibly say the gut/deadweight is the biggest reason for the improvement.

and you shouldn't bring math that doesn't work into argument.

I never said deadweight was the biggest reason for the improvement. I just said I can't put on 20-40kg of muscle in one year like most other people.

Why shouldn't the math work? I agree with you, less deadweight = faster pull. Therefore I should lose weight to get a faster pull. The maths is just to prove it. Had I not gained any weight, I would've pulled 9.79secs now. Damn.

pulling a sled, not deadlift

actually sled pulling, the only way to get faster is to keep pulling and do your front squats.

lol yeah, but of cos being at a higher weight helps lol. its no longer relative strength they're competing at, its absolute strength lol im deadlifting 170 at 72kg but so what? you've nvr seen boey taunting me when i was doing sleds

i'm not really talking about 'competition' here.
my question is about the benefit of having a gut (deadweight).

it probably was a mistake to put "20-40kg of muscle, blah blah blah" but my point was that "(total) weight gain" should be justifiable, by performance.

but i'm sure everyone has different ideas on how to improve performance.

Hey, Derrick Kim qualified for the top ten at 82kg last year. I'll do one better this year and qualify for the top ten at 78kg! Deadweight is useless after all.

Most likely I won't be able to drop to 78kg so I won't be in the top ten because of that lor.
