there is a setting to turn it brighter, you can also take it off "economy" mode. Dig around the manual, should be there. Otherwise I can ask my mum for her camera and try to figure it out, as her's is just the earlier model (which I used to use).

Re: Question to Phing about his camera from Elliott
Hi Phing,
Sorry to bother you again, I finally got off work and had time to play with the camera on friday, no matter what I do I cannot get the LCD screen to show up, I have reset all the settings and the LCD screen is extremely dim, so the point u cant see it unless it is under bright light. In addition, I just realized that there is no ubs cable to connect to the computer for this camera, is it still at your place can I ask? cause the 2 wires I got was the battery connector and the one that hooks up to the t.v
Thanks,
Elliott

normally when you push the display/power lcd button, the screen will get brighter?
Re: Question to Phing about his camera from Elliott
I've never used the usb connection (I just take out the SD card and transfer using a card reader, it's much faster, keep that in mind), so I don't even know what it looks like. Is it mini/micro usb? I'll look at the camera I gave my mum, and if she has the cable, I'll take it from her's and give it to you. I don't think she uses it either.
You still struggling with the display? I think if you press the display button, it just switches the display from blank/thirds/info about exposure, iso etc. Check the manual, page 20 or 21 I think, about the setup menu, it clearly highlights about the monitor and adjusting the brightness in 7 steps, and the next page tells you about the economy mode.
if you aren't happy with the camera, I'm happy to refund you the money (I was going to give it to my mum anyway). I'd rather that than you think I sold you a lemon.

Re: Question to Phing about his camera from Elliott
no problem, no big deal. Surprised it's not working though, since I was using it all the way up till just before the F1 last year.

Re: Question to Phing about his camera from Elliott
thanks phing, sorry about all the problems caused. By the way, as a note to you all. I visited one of the sports school in chengdu, in hopes of using the olympic weights. I spoke to the coach and was promptly rejected because they only train students for olympic competitions but its interesting to note that these kids start off small they are 12 to 13 years old and, their legs/hamstrings are all developed like crazy. The gym had no squat rack, only olympic weights, a makeshift bench press, 2 kettleballs and a makeshift reverse hyper machine. From what I saw, it was never about lifting heavy weights, they keep emphasizing technique and endless repetitions.
