Nostalgia: 80s American Cartoons

Post by Jonathan »

I like cartoons, one of my favourite channels on cable is cartoon network. I don't mind the new ones, but remakes of the old ones is just plain sacrilege sometimes. Optimus Prime in Transformers Animated is some huge torso no legs metrosexual faggot, and now Michael Fucking Bay is going to blaspheme again by making another Transformers movie. And the bad guy is Omega Supreme? WHAT THE FUCK?

Enough is enough, let me REMIND all those who care to remember how cartoons in the US were made in the 80s. The only cartoons worth watching for a very long time since 2000 (isn't the internet great?) are Japanese anime because now the pathetic US cartoons are all drawn anime-style too. What's wrong with the "rounded" 80s style ? I'm glad YouTube is around to archive all the goodies from the 80s. They really had some corny dialogue and action. First off, here's my B-list...

B-LIST 80s CARTOONS

CENTURIONS, POWER EXTREME!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-q3bab938Y

I remember yelling this everytime I watched the show.

DEFENDERS OF THE EARTH
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R_J7fJ_M ... re=related

I can't remember anything, except the song is catchy.

VISIONARIES
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuqO9P1I ... re=related

Wasn't really into this, it seemed to be a human version of Transformers.

GALAXY RANGERS
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tx-OGP0v ... re=related

I really can't remember anything about this, but I have watched every episode.

BRAVE STARR
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oBkWd_W ... re=related

Yeah, Brave Starr was the star of the show, but who did I support? THIRTY-THIRTY!!!

BIONIC SIX
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbNHR1jM ... re=related

Again, I don't remember much, but often the kids got into trouble and Dad and Mom had to go save them. Sounds very familiar.

SILVER HAWKS
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUe5Ugg6Iks

In spite of originality it seemed second-rate to me.

MUST SEE 80s CARTOONS

M.A.S.K.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQdgbs0IUDg

This one I remember, every kid was so crazy about the toys. They toys were really well-made. Naturally my favourite character was Spectrum and his Rhino.

THUNDERCATS
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Qd_IsxgAf8

This cartoon was the SHITZ back then! But I don't know why it didn't succeed in merchandising or spinoffs or movies and stuff. Some 80s people remember this very clearly, some have never heard of it. Weird. Anyway, Lion-O is only powerful because of the Sword of Omens, Wily Kit and Kat and Snarf take up way too much TV time, Tiger is useless, Pathro is very undderated, and Cheeterah, well, Cheeterah is always welcome in action. And Mum-ra screams too much.

G.I. JOE
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HlUyqxmv2DA

Well, GI Joe didn't have an intro song at all, so I used the movie one because it was the SHITZ as well! This is one is real masterpiece of corny American patriotism. I mean really, no one manages to actually kill anyone at all. And Cobra Commander, lol, what a loser! I don't know how Destro manages to put up with him. Anyway, of the good guys my favourite is Snake Eyes, the grey-blue bodysuit ninja with a V-visor, because he doesn't talk but always does the most important things.

TRANSFORMERS GENERATION 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZUTleBwiiw

Probaly, provably, arguebly, the best of the best of the best of all. Why? Two words. Optimus Prime. Which Optimus Prime?

NOT THIS MEXTROSEXUAL NO LEGS FAGGOT
Image

AND NOT THIS MICHAEL FUCKING BAY CLOWN EITHER!Image

TILL ALL ARE ONE... THIS IS THE ONE!!!
Image

Anyway, I know a lot about Transformers, so here's another music vid of the greatest 80s cartoons ever. Enjoy.

WTF why that Optimus Prime look so wrong! The only ones i can remember are Thundercats, Transformers and GI Joe. Cartoon nowadays are fucking gay.
Squats can only strengthen, tear or break something. Strengthening, tearing and breaking is totally awesome. Thus squats are awesome.
