romanians are not stiff-legged deadlifts.

romanians are done with movement of the butt. Come down butt push back. Come up butt pull in. All the way knees slightly bent. There.. as layman as i can.

Most people say they're the same lah. But anyway, stiff legged deadlifts shouldn't be done with a stiff leg anyway.

if they're really done that way, means that the person has really flexible hips?
Squats can only strengthen, tear or break something. Strengthening, tearing and breaking is totally awesome. Thus squats are awesome.

What's the difference between RDL, stiff-legged DL, clean DL and normal DL?

according to this http://www.tmuscle.com/readArticle.do?id=2271271
3) Clean-Style Deadlift
This is the type of deadlift used by Olympic lifters to strengthen their pulling strength while transferring these gains to the competitive clean and jerk. To the untrained eye, it does resemble a conventional powerlifting deadlift, however, there are differences, which do change the muscle emphasis.

The first difference is hip height. The hips are lower in the Olympic (clean-style) deadlift. This means that the knees are more bent; closer to a half squat than a quarter squat. The torso is also more upright. Finally, the shoulders are either above the bar or slightly in front of it.

These differences decrease the load on the lower back slightly, but it also strengthens the obliques and transverse abdominus more than a powerlifting deadlift, because of the core strength needed to maintain an upright position during the first phase of the pull. During that first phase of the pull (taking the bar from the floor to above knees), it's crucial to maintain the same trunk angle.

Apparently this particular style is different from a conventional powerlifting-style DL.

I have a feeling some may not agree with what it says; i myself don't know either.

If anyone can enlighten us, pls do so. : )

There's definitely a difference between a clean DL and a power lifting DL. The legs/feet placement are wider in the latter, and obviously they can and do use mixed grip. Further, in power lifting, there's also sumo DL.

When have you ever seen an olympic lifter use a sumo stance (I think for that particular mode, I've seen the frog leg stance instead)?
