Stupid Kid
Stupid Kid
On Sunday, I brought my wife out riding.
Along the journey, something happened which made me angry even until today. I was riding slowly, and 50m away, a Wish Taxi has unloaded its passengers along a left bender. One of its passengers is a tall, 20+ indian with spiky hair, and skinny jeans, who I shall call SK from now on.
I had already changed lane to avoid the taxi's lane, but still rode cautiously as from my 12 years of road experience in Singapore, I know that idiots like to cross even when vehicles are clearly oncoming.
Well, SK seemed bent on crossing the road, even when I was clearly oncoming. To make thing worse, he seems to walk slowly, without an effort to make a dash. It seems that he expected me to stop for him.
I sounded my horn twice, and slowed down just in case the idiot really had no intention to stop at all. Then, when I was 2m away from him, he suddenly did a High kick in my direction! And it nearly missed my wife! I was so fucking angry that I stopped as quickly as I can by the side of the road, and checked if my wife is ok. I got off my bike, and really wanted to bash SK's head inside out. I shouted, "Chee-B**... Come here!"
By this time, SK was already on the other side of the road. But, 3 of his friends(they were from the same taxi) were just about 20m away from me, on my side of the road. To my shouting, SK turned around, looked at me, and showed me his middle finger. I took a look at his friends, with obvious rage in my face, and told them to bring SK over to me. All 3 of them looked shocked, and obviously they did not want a piece of the action.
I was about to cross the road when 2 things happened.
1) SK turned around and made a sprint to don't know where it was...
2) My wife pulled me back and told me that if I were to beat him up, I would then be a criminal.
SHIT! She could really talk sense into me. All the things that I worked for, everything that I represented in life, would be blown into pieces if I succumbed to this temptation of beating up an obviously worthless kid who could not defend himself against me even if he tried.
I jolly well know that I just need one attempt to knock him out. But, was this punch gonna be worth it? I knew that SK is no fighter, just from the way that he kicked. His CG is all wrong, there was no shift in bodyweight at all, and, the thing is, he really looked as if he tried his best. Well, I don't wanna spoil my fight record by taking down an untrained, young and stupid kid.
I gave myself 2 days to forget about this incident, but I can't. Hopefully by ranting about it like a bitch in a forum, I would not be as pissed anymore.

Your wife did the right thing to restrain you. Really not worth it to lay your hand first because unless you have witnesses to prove you have been provoked, the law would take it the one who lay the first punch is at fault.
Happened to my uncle in a domestic affair sometime back. He did it in self defense but was taken to task for landing the punch.

Re: Stupid Kid
If he nearly missed your wife, it means he actually hit her, and if I was in your position, I would have beaten the guy to a pulp, and felt fully justified... abuse me all you want, but touch my wife and the gloves are off, completely off, and I don't care if the guy was skinny, fat, a 110kg MMA fighter etc...Sufian wrote:...he suddenly did a High kick in my direction! However, I know you meant that he nearly hit her, instead, but missed. So luckily you didn't have to retaliate.
Take this as incident as it is, the realization that 99+% of people are not stupid, do live with a modicum of social grace and decency, and hence why this person's total lack of such, was such a "lowlight"...
And next time it happens, give us a call, we'll (I speak for myself, of course) go help you beat up his friends
well.. it missed my wife, but just by inches.
The thing is, I was on a bike, and any hit would cause me to lose control of the bike. Thank god he missed.
I am over it now, I sure hope that I don't see the indian dude again. Thinking back now, it was the eve of Deepavali, and I hope that the guy does not live near me. Well, if he does see me again, he better run. I may have lots of self-control, but most of that self-control only exists because of my wife.

It's like the Sixth Sense, I get a frosty breath everytime "I see retards, I see them all the time. They're everywhere" [shiver]
I completely understand your pain. I think I can cite about 3 million such other examples here. I've given up trying to reason with children (not age defined, but the level of social retardation observable).
In your situation, I would have the same reaction (and my wife would have the same as yours
) because an unprovoked violence or intent of was made in the direction of your wife. But in the end, you'd have to deal with a greater retard in your justice system (that doesn't appear to condone self-defence in my limited sanitized media exposure) and unfortunately we'd end up the greater loser.
The one thing I don't advocate is others getting involved. You deal with your own problems. Too many people today sharing one set of shriveled raisins, with even the actual ownership of those in doubt.

Its time for me to hit the gym and get new PRS.

i think you lost your temper because your wife was with you i think. When im alone on my bike i am generally very cool headed and good tempered. But if im pillioning someone especially my gf i get angry with inconsiderate motorists very quickly and easily...
when its to do with yourself only its alot easier, when its to do with your loved ones its a whole new challenge.
