Will shops be open at SLS though? Minor tragedy, my 8800GTS finally died this evening, so I'm using an old 9250 for now. Looking at either a 4770 or 4870 to replace it, and toying with whether it's worth updating my E6600 to say an E8400 or just get an i7+SSD instead.

Think I might wait on the latter, SSDs are dropping in price now that Intel has some competition from the new indilux chipset, I noticed the kingston 80gb (based on the intel x25-m) was selling at newegg for US $350 so approx. SG$530 or so, and they are advertising at the PC show for SG$580+.

Yup SLS is open. Good time to shop there since people will be at PC Show instead so it's less crowded. I haven't been to a PC Show in ages. Don't see the point really.

4770 stock is still quite low I think, and it compares with a 4850, not a 4870. 4870 is quite a lot better than the 4770. I think keep your 6600 unless you have some app that is running slow, in which case you should upgrade beyond a E8400.

SSDs are still too expensive I think. There's quite a bit of price gouging going around. They cost quite a bit less in bulk direct from the distributors methinks...

Went to PC show yesterday with my wife.

I didn't buy anything except for sweet and sour chicken fried rice at marina square.

But my wife hoot the ASUS EEE mini laptop (because she decided that I can claim $400 from MOE's Learning and Development Scheme for this), 2 WD Passports 320GB (just because they are red), and also 2 CREATIVE MP3 players.

First.. no bonus. Now.. no $400 for me to use to buy shoes and pay for courses. And, of course these hoots dont all come from her pocket, since 12th June was just few days ago.

Sian.

Avoid the PC show at all costs.
