I keep noticing in Part 2 that the officer is doing the Western Squat and have to keep changing his stance. Poor hip and ankle mobility. :P

Just say you are hypoglycemic and need to eat otherwise you'd faint.

I dont think that rain would get in unless something is faulty with the exterior design.

What i meant was that why should they see drinking water as an excuse to fine people.Dont they use water to clean up the place?

If the person left his bottle behind then its littering already.

The rain gets in when people walk in the rain before getting in the train, their shoes and umbrellas are wet and dirty and they mess up the floor. So like that they also kena fine?

Since when was i calling a fine for every darn trivial thing, i was infact calling for more flexibility!

Secondly, those goddamn stompers that bitch about every damn thing but lack the courage to tell the parties in the supposed wrong-doing.

i don't really get what the big deal is.
is it not clearly stated "no eating/drinking" in the trains and stations?

does it matter if the item is small (sweets), or if it's plain water? they're choosing to ignore a clearly stated rule.
if they feel water is ok, then they shoul've asked first.

-edit-
just watched the 2nd video... did the person not show some flexibility by not fining the lady taking medicine?

Yes, I think it matters. Not a matter of whether it's small, but this is clearly losing sight of why the rules were implemented in the 1st place. If I'm stuck in a 1+hour train ride, I better have access to my water bottle!

......well, to be honest, i don't know how serious it is not to be able to drink water for 1hr.
it seems like something that happens everyday.

you see the fat girl in the 2nd video... her justification was "i see other people eating."
i figure most rules are implemented to prevent morons like this to do stupid shit, and unfortunately, some others will suffer...

...the issues at hand may be small, but i do find the reactions rather interesting.

-edit-
does eating sweets really help with motion sickness (or whatever condition she claims to have)?

Case 1:

Guy:"Wah lau, headache sia and throat damn dry."

*Guy takes out water bottle and drinks*

Roger Fool:"You are subjected to a $30 fine, can i have your particulars please?"

Guy:"Nabei, now heartache also, my $30 gone."

Case 2:

Guy with high fever perspires profusely on train.

Typical Aunty:"Eeeeee, got h1n1."

Guy:"Must tahan, must tahan....cannot drink water"

Well by the time I reach work from home I'm usually parched. Also, sometimes when I have a sore throat, sucking on a Ricola or some other Lozenges really helps with the coughing. Besides, I think the question isn't "does eating sweets/drinking water really help X" but "does eating sweets/drinking water really mess up the MRT with litter/smell/disrupt other passengers"? I imagine this to be the reason why the rules are implemented - to stop people from littering/messing up the place, creating a stench, disrupting the peace and quiet of other commuters. I simply don't see it happening here if someone is drinking bottled water or eating sweets. Of course if some moron starts pulling out a whopper or starts dumping his sweet wrapper then fine the fucker...but punishing the entire cohort just coz of 1 moron just reminds me of the SAF...

Ryan yeah that lady was in 1 of the videos.

directly, maybe not. but it could lead to others taking it one step further, which leads to messing shit up.
again, i'll point to the fat girl: "i see other people doing it"

person 1: need to take medication, so sips some water.
person 2: only sees person 1 drinking water (not medication), thinks "ok, water must be ok then", takes out his water bottle and drinks. (for no other reason than, "i'm thirsty").
moron 1: sees person 1 & 2. takes out his coke and drinks. (and in the process, spills it and now you have sticky floor).

maybe i'm wrong... but i think it's usually small shit that gets kids to think doing some stupid shit is ok.

i don't have long rides, so maybe i just fail to see the importance of having water during train rides.
i only see it as a prevention measure, which, in my opinion is adequate.

-edit-
the person who has motion sickness or whatever, should appeal if she's actually eating sweets for that reason.
...but probably will be rejected.

If we have to implement laws to avoid people from playing the telephone game with food and drinks, there are a lot of other laws we need to implement!

i have no intention of suggesting that it's fair for everyone.
people who can decide what is appropriate will suffer...

but that applies to just about anything.
i figure most laws are put in place to protect the dimwits who just can't think for themselves (from doing harm to others and to themselves)

Don't really have much to say about this actually. On one hand the train staff seem to be tyrannical. On the other, commuters will always be pushing the limit. The bottom line is, the fines are just there to frighten people, because if no one is there to catch you, you will definately get away with it. Fair? Unfair? What is there to say? You happen to be caught, it's unfair of course. What do you expect?

For us on Circle Line, we'll simply just advise them pleasantly to eat or drink later. I just asked a young man today if he could drink his coke later. He complied immediately. Should I have got in his face and fine him? Why make enemies? Naughty school children playing catching in the train, disturbing the peace, no mercy. Smokers, fire hazard, of course I will get in your face and scream bloody hell. Littering, spitting, feet on seats i.e. making things dirty, you will get it. Sweets and water? Come on.
