Well, I just built a new system for my wife, also a Phenom 9650. I'm using a lowly E6600 w/8800 GTS (the wife always get's the good stuff first :D). Two others I'm using as servers, I think one is an athlon 3200+ and the other another athlon just higher spec'd.

Various OS's include boring XP, Ubuntu 7.10, 8.04-1 LTS, 8.10, openBSD 4.2/4.3, Fedora 9/10, openSolaris (mostly thanks to the wonders of vmware server). Heard stories that OSX can run under a a freebsd config in vmware... might try it one day if I'm bored.

You don't want to know how much disk storage I have in RAID1/RAID5 config...

Louis, I have no idea how you can fail with Ubuntu 8.10... video?

Actually the E6600 isn't that bad. Maybe even faster than the Phenom. AMD is really lagging now. And your 8800GTS is still pretty good too.

Looks like you have more porn than me if you're using RAID.

abt 1.4 less sound card, ram and 320 and 750 hdds.

PQ and build is unmatched for an eizo.
the blacks, shades and hues are realistic and rich..seeing is believing.

Only the samsung series 6 and above can match it.

It is open source..takes awhile for drivers to be added in.
Plus linux is green camp friendlier

No need to calibrate, factory settings already good enough.
paid 1.9 about 2 years back.

Yah but they usually won't take out driver support what. I've upgraded several Mandriva versions also no problems. Usually just kernel recompilation + package updating. But ok lah I've never used ATI in those Linux distros...
