About 6 years ago, as a 50+kg skinny runt, once a week I would go to NUS SRC gym and go through each of the machine stations for about 3 rounds. That's my first voluntary gym training regime...not counting those forced ones by school/NS of course.

Man that was a long time ago!

billion reps of db presses.
no row
a few sets of lat pulldowns
a few leg curls, extensions, presses here and there...

yes, very balanced.

Lol i think i have a weird combi. I started out training with lotsa bodyweight exercises. Things i learnt from dragondoor, trickstutorials and beastskills. When i reached jc, I only liked doing triceps & biceps exercise and latpulldowns. I didnt like other machines last time as they already felt weird. Cant say im CHARMing cuz i didnt do benches. A few years on i only did deadlifts and bench every training for whatever reasons i dont even know.
Squats can only strengthen, tear or break something. Strengthening, tearing and breaking is totally awesome. Thus squats are awesome.

Very first regime? I remember spending a lot of time doing squats and upright rows, for rowing strength training. Not sure why we never did bent over rows or deadlifts, maybe the PE teacher just didn't know any better (or perhaps considering the amount of rowing we did, unnecessary).

Then a rowing buddy made me do DB flyes, and my chest was sore the next 3 days. Now THAT I remember very well!

Actually to be honest, by the time i was 15.I discovered the big 3 already, just that people told me they were dangerous except bench. So all i did were leg presses, hyperextensions and hamstring curls.

My serious training only started when i was 16.My first source of inspiration was actually fishbuff(Pioneer competitor of strongman sport in sg).

was a thrower so the staples were these 3

squats
bench
trunk rotation (barbell on back)

also did split squats, push presses, military presses, cleans, bicep curls, situps

what i miss doing are the pylometrics, shuttle runs, agility drills and MEDICINE BALL trainings.

only after i switched to a pure bodybuilding routine for couple of years did i realise how much less functional i became.

if you are talking absolute lifts i am definitely stronger now.

but i reckon as far as "explosive" power is concerned in relation to a light weight (throwing a discus) i would be better back then.

im almost sure my 30 or 50 m sprint is faster back then.

everyone should get stronger if they trained long enough, add enough food into the equation and growth is a side effect hehe.
